Letter: White Park woes

Friday, September 14, 2018

I was at White Park Sunday afternoon for a 3-year-old’s birthday party. It was very disgraceful, to say the least.

We were in the area of the playground, and there were plenty of other people there also. But the only two trash containers were totally overflowing. (We brought our own bag for trash and took it with us). My mother is in a wheelchair and needed to use the bathroom. We found one totally disgusting portable toilet behind the basketball court: no toilet paper, almost full to the top, very smelly, and it took three or four people to get her over there because the fence around the playground area blocked access to the walkway.

White Park used to be a beautiful park to visit on a Sunday, but it was a disgrace last weekend, that’s for sure. It’s not a place I would want to take out-of-state visitors to, seeing that this is the capital city’s main park.
