Discovery Center hosts sci-fi movie series

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center has a line-up for staff picks for its summer sci-fi film series.

The adventures begin Friday at 7 p.m. with a screening of Pacific Rim, where sea monsters and humans battle. (Rated PG-13)

On Aug. 4, watch Galaxy Quest. The bickering cast of a Star Trek-style show discovers they have to battle real aliens. (Rated PG)

Ending the series on Sept. 1, come to see 2001: A Space Odyssey. (Rated G)

For each night, doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the movie also includes access to the galleries after the show and a chance to view the night sky with the New Hampshire Astronomical Society, if skies are clear. Cost is $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, $7 for children and free for members.
