A 91-year-old Bay State man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on crash on Suncook Valley Highway in Chichester.

Edward Chandler, of North Reading, Mass., was pronounced dead at the scene of the three-vehicle crash, police said. The accident was reported at approximately 4:18 p.m. on Route 28, near the intersection with Mayflower Drive, which is about 4 miles north of the Epsom traffic circle.

On scene, police determined that a 2018 Chevy Malibu driven by Chandler had crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2006 Lincoln Town Car driven by Linda McManus, 71, of Porter, Maine. The Chevy was traveling north at the time of the crash.

The impact of that initial collision sent the Lincoln into the northbound lane where it struck a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by David Morin, 21, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, police said. Morin was traveling south but had swerved in an attempt to avoid the initial collision.

Emergency responders transported McManus to Concord Hospital for treatment of numerous but unspecified injuries. Morin was not injured, police said.

Chichester police and fire were assisted by Pittsfield and Epsom police, in addition to Pittsfield Fire and Rescue.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 603-798-4911.
