Forrest Wall broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run single in the top of the 10th inning to lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a dramatic 3-1 win over the Akron RubberDucks in Game 1 of the best-of-five Eastern League Championship Series on Tuesday night at Canal Park.

After New Hampshire’s T.J. Zeuch dueled with opposing starter Jake Paulsen for the better part of Tuesday night’s game, New Hampshire loaded the bases against Jordan Milbrath with two walks and a single in the 10th.

Rob Kaminsky was called in to face Wall, who grounded a 2-0 pitch through the right side to give the Fisher Cats a two-run cushion. Travis Bergen struck out two batters as part of a perfect 10th inning to earn the save.

The score was tied at 1-1 after an RBI single from Akron’s Nellie Rodriguez in the first, and a run-scoring base knock from New Hampshire’s Josh Palacios in the fourth.

Wall finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, and had two of the Fisher Cats’ five hits.

Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. in Akron. The Fisher Cats are scheduled to host Game 3 on Friday.
