Letter: Thanks and apologies

Tuesday, December 11, 2018

As 2018 comes to a close, I would like to thank everyone in the state Legislature for eight years of friendship and support. I met many legislators over the years and will miss them, including House Clerk Paul Smith and his staff, Dan Mason and the House minority office, and former House speaker Gene Chandler and his staff. I am very happy for new House Speaker Steve Shurtleff. I have known Steve as a Concord city councilor and state representative for many years and have the highest respect for him.

I would like to thank the Concord city delegation for their support over the years, including former state reps Helen Deloge, Rick Watrous and Candace Bouchard.

In another note, I would like to again extend my apologizes to new Ward 8 state representative Safiya Wazir for my unthoughtful and harmful remarks to not only her and her family but our new citizens in Ward 8 and Concord in general. I also would like to apologize to my clergy friends in Concord. I have made personal friends with many of them of different faiths and hope they realize I did make a mistake.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday season.
