Helicopter crash reported in Andover

A pilot is in the hospital after his helicopter crashed and caught on fire in some Andover woods Tuesday.

State police and Andover police, fire and EMS personnel responded to a report of the crash in the area of 15 Rivers Edge Road at 3:54 p.m. Emergency responders found the pilot got out of the helicopter under his own power before calling for help.

Firefighters quickly put out the flaming aircraft, police said.

The pilot, whom police did not identify, was transported to Concord Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene has been secured by Andover and state police, and the Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board and the New Hampshire Division of Aeronautics are investigating the incident.

State police are asking that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Trooper Elphick at 223-4381 or the FAA at 755-1039.
