Player of the Week

With one shot, Jackson Putnam made history for the Pembroke Spartans.

Stuck in a back-and-forth battle with No. 1 Windham for the Division II boys’ soccer championship on Nov. 4, Putnam sent a prayer to the net from 45 yards out and scored in the 96th minute of double overtime. His heroics helped the Spartans capture their first state title since 1958 and earned him Monitor Player of the Week Award honors.

Pembroke defeated No. 15 Kearsarge, No. 7 Oyster River and No. 3 Bow in the tournament before turning back Windham to finish the season 18-1-1.
