High schools: Brinity-Bow girls’ hockey, Hillsboro-Deering girls’ basketball pick up wins on Monday

Girls’ Basketball

Hillsboro-Deering 32, Campbell 22

Key players: H-D – Morgan Dean (18 points, 14 rebounds), Emery Greene (10 points, 5 rebounds), Lilyanna LaValley (2 points)

Highlights: The Hillcats outscored the Cougars 17-4 in the second quarter and only committed 10 turnovers in 32 minutes to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. H-D showed a lot of improvement taking care of the ball and LaValley scored her first varsity points.

Coach’s quote: “Very good victory for the team. We were able to control the tempo and executed some set plays to perfection. We did a very good job on the boards and played some good team defense.” – H-D’s Bruce Johnson

Boys’ Hockey

Hanover 5, Concord 3

Key players: Concord – Trevor Craigue (2 goals, assist), Chad Lariviere (goal, 2 assists), Cam Roy (assist), Cam Chandonnet (assist)

Highlights: Craigue scored nine minutes into game to give the Tide the lead, but Hanover scored to the game 1-1 through the first period and added two more goals in the second to make it 3-1. Lariviere scored to cut Concord’s deficit to 3-2 before Hanover went up 4-2. Craigue’s shorthanded goal cut Hanover’s lead to 4-3 with six minutes left in the game, but the Bears scored on an empty net to close out the victory.

Coach’s quote: “We didn’t play bad, it was one of those games, if we made a mistake, Hanover took advantage. Once again, we need to be better in our own end and more disciplined.” – Concord’s Dunc Walsh

Girls’ Hockey

Bishop Brady-Trinity-Bow 6, Prospect Mtn.-Kingswood 2

Key players: BBTB – Kaylee Jacques (4 goals), Allison Pelletier (2 goals), Audrey Starr (4 assists), Meghan Schmidt (assist), Lyrah Lydon (14 saves)

Highlights: Jacques scored in every period and the Brinity Falcons were up 4-0 before Prospect Mountain-Kingswood scored early in the third period.
