Letter: Why I’m voting for Molly Kelly

Friday, October 12, 2018

Those who live in poorer school districts like Franklin, Pittsfield and Allenstown need to understand what’s at stake in this election, along with all the other communities in this state.

Gov. Chris Sununu wants to take $100 million from the education budget and give it to 2,000 individuals to spend how they want on private, mainly sectarian, education that is not accountable to the state in any way. That money is going to come from your allotment of the state education fund. You’re going to have to make it up yourselves.

Ask yourselves, “How are we going to do that?” There’s no other tax base but your property taxes, so as your budget takes a hit you’re going to have to pay higher taxes or watch your local schools receive even less funding than they do now. Can you afford that?

I don’t know about you, but I live in Concord and my property taxes are already very high. I don’t want to pay for somebody who thinks their children are too good for our school system. I can’t afford their selfishness. I have bills to pay.

So to protect my tax dollars, to protect my local schools and to protect the majority of children in my community, I’m going to vote for Molly Kelly for governor.

If you care about your wallet, your community, and your schools, you’ll do the same.

WAYNE FULLER
