Laconia police are investigating a serious motorcycle crash late Sunday night on Rollercoaster Road.

Police say a 53-year-old operator suffered a head injury and was ultimately taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for treatment. His passenger, a 43-year-old female, suffered facial injuries and was taken to Lakes Region General Hospital. Neither the operator nor his passenger was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash, reported at 9:42 p.m., was the second of the weekend to result in serious injury. Police say a motorcyclist was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock on Saturday after a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of Providence Road and South Main.

Police have declined to release the names of those involved in either accident, citing the ongoing investigations.

Police are continuing to remind motorists to be mindful of an increased presence of motorcycles in the Lakes Region for Laconia’s 96th annual Motorcycle Week.

Anyone with additional information about either crash is asked to call Laconia police at 524-5252.
