A Manchester man is accused of having approximately $9,000 worth of heroin in his possession when he was arrested Thursday in Tilton.

Christopher Romaine, 23, faces charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin and conspiracy to sell heroin. He was arrested Thursday afternoon following an investigation by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force, the Franklin Police Department and the Tilton Police Department.

Romaine was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit by police; police said he fled the vehicle he was operating in an attempt to evade arrest.

Authorities seized from the vehicle 300 grams of heroin valued at approximately $9,000.

At the time of his arrest, Romaine was out of jail on bail conditions in an unrelated drug case brought against him this past July. On Thursday, he was taken to the Belknap County jail pending his arraignment on the new charges.
