The Masons believe in making a difference in their communities, just ask the members of Horace Chase Lodge 72 of Penacook. The Brethren of the Lodge held their annual community night on June 21.

The event began with a good old-fashioned cookout. A delicious combination of burgers, dogs, watermelon, and ice cream was prepared by the members. In attendance were Boy Scout Troop 267, parents and children of the Boscawen Elementary School, Horace Chase Special Ladies, and winners of various scholarship programs provided by Masonic organizations. The Boy Scouts presented a flag ceremony and the school children recited the Gettysburg Address. The Junior Deacon of the lodge, Joshua Craggy presented the Boscawen DARE officer a check of nearly a thousand dollars for use funding the drug use prevention program.

Horace Chase Lodge meets on the third Thursday of each month (except in July and August) at the Masonic Temple in Penacook. For more information, visit horacechase.org.
