Robin Davis, who rose to the Democratic nomination for Merrimack County attorney on a write-in campaign in September’s primary, defeated Concord city prosecutor Paul Halvorsen in Tuesday’s election.

The final numbers show Davis won the office by 2,395 votes out of a total of 61,819 ballots cast.

Davis brings 15 years of experience as a public defender to her new role as the top attorney in the county. Since accepting the nomination, Davis has transferred from the Concord public defender’s office to Manchester. She told the Monitor before the election that if she won, Davis would not prosecute any former clients she represented as a public defender in Concord.

Scott Hilliard was re-elected as county sheriff, defeating Democrat Ricardo Rodriguez by 10,686 votes (about 17 percent). Leo Bernier won the race for county treasurer by a margin of just 285 votes, defeating David Kidder.

Peter Spaulding won re-election for his seat on the three-member board of county commissioners. Spaulding, a former executive councilor, defeated Jerome Duval 10,456 votes to 9,547.

Eighteen votes made the difference in the race for register of probate, going in favor of Erica Davis (30,599 votes) over Jane Bradstreet (30,571).

Susan Cragin was elected the register of deeds over Charlene Brack, 31,922 to 29,130.
