Letter: Secretary of state’s office is not for sale

Tuesday, December 04, 2018

Leadership vendetta, insult to former governors. My old Democratic Party, gone. Sad, the thought of any Republican or Democrat voting to oust Bill Gardner. He’s not perfect, but he’s the best nonpartisan gentleman. And he has a high IQ and is nationally recognized. As the Concord Ward 10 moderator for 24 years, I have known Gardner to be unwavering and clear with his orders to never disenfranchise any voter, period.

Anyone in Ward 10 knows that any claims of fraud or suppression of student voters is a myth. From Jeanne Shaheen to the janitors, Gardner was told no Trump commission or Senate Bill 3. Gardner and Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap killed the Donald Trump-Kris Kobach fiasco. Every superlative has been used to describe Gardner except courageous, his profile.

It’s been a year of mischaracterizations of a tech-less, archaic office, but Gardner has accumulated the best “techies” and a staff to include Karen, Paula, Diana and Deputy David Scanlan. Professional! This staff is Bill Gardner and why it runs so well. I wonder what Rudman, Gallen, Peterson and the McLanes are thinking. God bless Bill Gardner, his entire staff, New Hampshire and the United States.
