A Pittsfield man suffered life-threatening injuries in a fiery car crash on Route 4 in Northwood after police say his car was clipped by another vehicle making a U-turn Thursday night.

Rick Taylor, 55, was driving westbound about 5:47 p.m. when his Jeep Renegade SUV was hit on the rear passenger side door, causing the Jeep to swerve off the road to the right and crash into a tree, police said.

The Jeep was on fire when police arrived. Taylor was pulled from the burning car and taken to Concord Hospital.

Police say Holly Ann Sawyer Neenan, 24, of Seabrook, was making a U-turn from the westbound breakdown when her Acura hit Taylor’s Jeep. Neenan had one passenger in her car. Neither were injured.

Route 4 was closed to both lanes of traffic for about four hours after the wreck.

Police do not believe alcohol or speed was a factor, but the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash are asked to contact State Trooper Christopher Martineau at 223-8626.
