Letter: Relief for special interests

President Biden announced that PPP monies would go to businesses with less than 16 employees only, but in the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill, Planned Parenthood will be allowed to receive funds as well as “country clubs, fraternities, sororities and publicly traded internet news organizations.”

Fifty million dollars will be used to fund EPA “environmental justice grants,” a.k.a. a payback to extremist environmental action groups. The bill provides $500 million for “grants to fund activities related to the arts, humanities, libraries and museums, and Native American language preservation.”

Thirty billion dollars is to be appropriated for transit (progressive train fetish) grants, including rail service for Silicon Valley. Can’t Twitter, Facebook, and Google, flush with cash, fund a train on their own?

The most offensive part of the bill is the $350 million bailout of urban governments and their entitled political aristocracy that have mismanaged pension funds for decades and have created their own insolvency, not understanding that if you keep doing the same things you will keep realizing the same lousy results.

Democrats blocked an amendment to stop Cobra from funding abortion while refusing to approve an amendment that would have allowed the inspector general to report on how COVID-19 funds are spent by education and labor.

Many Americans will receive a paltry $1,400, some unemployment relief and vaccine. That’s $825 billion for the people and $1 trillion for special interests, social policy snobs, self-congratulatory elitist activists, and disingenuous partisan hypocrites. “The swamp” is flooding anew and the stench is worse than ever. To Democrats “justice” means “just us.”
