Peregrine Spring, a nonfiction book by Nancy Cowan of Deering, made the New York Times bestsellers list Sunday. The book placed 13th for nonfiction e-books.

“I was psyched!” Cowan said of discovering the news.

The book is a memoir of Cowan and her husband’s 30 years of training in falconry, or hunting with birds. It also covers their work as raptor rehabilitators. They currently care for Banner, the first falcon to undergo cataract surgery, and other birds.

The book was released this spring. Cowan recently found out Lyons Press will do another hardcover run of books and release a paperback version in the fall of 2017.
