Epsom police identify motorcyclist killed in crash one week ago

Tuesday, July 25, 2017

A Richmond man was killed July 16 when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Dover Road in Epsom, police said Tuesday.

Calvin Lancey, 54, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene of the multi-vehicle collision, said Epsom police Lt. Brian Michael. Five other people were taken by ambulances to Concord Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Epsom police had not released any information about the crash for more than a week. Michael released a few details Tuesday after the Monitor filed a Right-to-Know request with the department.

The crash was reported at approximately 4 p.m. near the Epsom/Northwood town line. Police said previously that two motorcycles struck a vehicle on Dover Road (Route 4).

One of the people injured in the crash was Lancey’s wife, Lisa, according to an obituary. The couple was traveling home to Richmond from Maine at the time of the collision.

Lancey, who was born and raised in Keene, was a licensed electrician and an avid outdoorsman, his obituary says.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The crash remains under investigation.
