Letter: Read your Bible

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

I object to Richard Willoughby’s letter to the editor published in Friday’s Monitor on several levels, not the least of which because he is ignoring the anguish of a woman who has had a lifetime of mental pain brought on by the man who has now joined our highest court. But to end his rant with a misquote from the Bible merely shows contempt for those of us who actually read the Bible. “Life begins at conception” is not cited in the Bible. Luke 1:39-40 reads: “And Mary arose in thhose days and went into the hill county, with haste, into a city of Judah; and entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.” (King James version) or “A few days later Mary hurried to the highlands of Judea to the town where Zacharias lived, to visit Elizabeth” (Living Bible). Read your Bible, Mr. Willoughby, or better yet base your “critical” thinking on facts.
