Guerrero Jr., Romano lift New Hampshire over Hartford, 7-1

HARTFORD, Conn. – Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered and had four hits, and Jordan Romano pitched six scoreless innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Hartford Yard Goats, 7-1, on Wednesday. The Fisher Cats held the Yard Goats hitless for 7⅔ innings and swept the three-game series with the win.

Romano (7-0) picked up the win after he struck out five and walked two.

New Hampshire started the scoring with a big third inning with five runs, including a two-run blast by Cavan Biggio for his Eastern League-leading 12th home run of the season.

The Fisher Cats later tacked on a run in both the fifth and seventh innings. In the fifth, Guerrero scored on a sacrifice fly before he hit a solo home run in the seventh.

Jesus Tinoco (4-4) went four innings, allowing five runs and seven hits. He also struck out four and walked three.

With the win, New Hampshire improved to 8-1 against Hartford this season.
