Scott confirmed as New Hampshire environmental commissioner

Wednesday, June 21, 2017

The Executive Council approved Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s second nominee to lead the state Department of Environmental Services on Wednesday.

Sununu nominated Robert Scott after the council rejected his first nominee – businessman Peter Kujawski – over what they considered a lack of experience. Scott currently serves as a state energy regulator on the Public Utilities Commission.

The council voted, 3-2, in favor of confirming Scott on Wednesday. Republican Councilor David Wheeler said he voted no because he doesn’t believe Scott has a good grasp of the businesses the agency regulates and because Scott declined to take a position on the controversial Northern Pass power line project.

Sununu said he is confident Scott has the skills and expertise for the job.
