A man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Interstate 393 in Concord, fire officials said.

Initial reports indicated that the man was trapped inside the vehicle; however, firefighters were able to extricate him without using the Jaws of Life, said Concord Deputy Fire Chief Sean Brown.

A woman was outside the vehicle when first responders arrived on scene shortly before 10:30 a.m. She was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Brown said.

The vehicle was traveling west on I-393 when it veered off the highway and crashed into a bridge abutment, Brown said.

New Hampshire State Police troopers also responded and are investigating the crash.
