It seems that two area colleges had the same idea when it came to their fall theater productions. Both NHTI and New England College will be performing Paul Sills’s Story Theatre, a play with music adapted from Brothers Grimm fairy tales and Aesop’s Fables.

The Story Theatre on Broadway was composed of eight actors with a rock-folk band enacting fairy tale stories. The stories included “The Bremen Town Musicians,” “The Little Peasant,” “The Robber Bridegroom,” “The Master Thief,” “The Fisherman and His Wife,” “Two Crows,” “The Golden Goose,” “Henny Penny,” and “Venus and the Cat.” Each cast member portrayed the various characters in each story.

NHTI shows will be held in the Sweeney Auditorium, 8 Institute Drive, Concord, on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $14 or free for NHTI students. For more information, call 271-6484, ext. 4150, or email jbdavis@ccsnh.edu.

New England College shows will be held at the Mainstage Theatre, 58 Depot Hill Road, Henniker, on Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Live music will be performed 30 minutes before each performance. Tickets are $7 for the public and $5 for members of the NEC community. For more information, call 428-2382, email nectheatre@nec.edu or visit nectheatre.com.
