Letter: Thanks to Bow’s Cindy Rose

I was impressed with the timing of the Monitor’s June 6 editorial, “You can be a builder of communities,” as we celebrated premier community builder Cindy Rose’s career as director of Bow Parks and Recreation last week.

As the editorial asserts, “Safe, well-kept parks, playgrounds, public gathering places and events all work to build community. They allow people to meet and form connections, but it helps if there is a human catalyst.” We are so fortunate to have enjoyed the professionalism of Cindy’s work as Bow’s human catalyst over the past 15 years.

On Wednesday, the Bow Community Building teemed with community members gathered to acknowledge Cindy’s program-building, organized by program coordinator Anne-Marie Guertin and office manager Malinda Blakey, who welcomed all with the same openness communicated in their website: “Here at the Bow Parks and Recreation Department we take great pride in offering a well-rounded recreation program for all ages, toddlers through senior citizens. Our activities range from sports to crafts, fitness to dance, special events, trips and more. We enjoy seeing our regular customers and we enjoy welcoming new people to our programs. Stop by and visit us.”

I know the whole Bow community joins me in thanking these three for the work they do on behalf of all of us, and I look forward to hearing about the support to be offered by the select board and the town manager in continuing this strong community tradition.
