Letter: Thank you, voters of District 25

Published: 12/7/2018 12:01:04 AM

Many thanks to the voters of Merrimack District 25 returning me to the New Hampshire Legislature to represent Warner, Webster, Andover, Salisbury and Danbury.

I’m grateful for many supporters bringing Democrats back to Concord, especially my running mates, Clyde Carson and Ken Wells. Area Democrats, friends and family knocked on doors with me, and stood out in the cold and rain.

I’ll work in the Legislature for all five towns. Priorities include the state meeting its court-ordered support for public schools, guaranteed universal kindergarten, safe schools for children and teachers, supporting job training and apprenticeships, and affordable higher education for New Hampshire citizens. The state must also restore financial support for retired public employees, taking the burden off local property-tax payers.

We’ll address the special needs of our towns: needs such as fighting the opioid epidemic, which is exhausting our first responders; universal broadband and cell service to attract families and jobs to our towns; extending Medicaid expansion; and guaranteed access to affordable health care. Towns also need easily available clean energy, such as solar. Paid family and medical leave is also a priority, as are equal living wages for women and men.

All the residents of District 25’s five towns are important to me. Let me hear about your concerns and priorities. Reach me by email at electdavidkarrick@gmail.com or phone me at 456-2772.

Have a good holiday season, and a happy and healthy 2019.
