Letter: Thanksgiving generosity

On Thanksgiving Day I went out to do a few things downtown when I saw the Rock-On Diner’s “open” sign. Larry Williams’s diner has always been a favorite place for us to eat: great food, great service and great prices. I walked in to wish Larry a happy Thanksgiving, but his daughter said he was out. It seems that Larry, chief cook and bottle washer, got a takeout order. When the customer showed up to pick up his order, Larry learned that the customer’s car wouldn’t start, so he walked to the diner. Downtown Suncook Village is windy most of the time, and on this morning it was more than brisk. Larry insisted on driving the customer, food in hand, back home. The thing is, knowing Larry, he would have done it anytime, for anybody; it didn’t have to be Thanksgiving.
