An antique wooden goose valued at several hundred dollars was stolen from Concord Antiques Gallery on Storrs Street.

Owner Tom Balon said the theft of a signed antique Walker Decoy goose was discovered Aug. 24 and reported to Concord police. After reviewing video surveillance footage, Balon said, he was able to determine that the theft had taken place several days prior. He has since shared still images and raw video with police.

Concord police Lt. Sean Ford said police are pursuing several leads and reviewing the evidence provided by the gallery.

Concord Antiques is a multi-dealer antique shop with more than 120 dealers. The asking price for the goose was $350, but Balon said the retail value is likely closer to $1,000. He also noted that the antique geese are collectible.

“For the individual dealer, this is tough,” Balon said of the theft. “We’ve been looking at them online in case this one pops up.”

Police ask anyone with information about the theft to contact the them at 225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline 226-3100.
