A Tilton man faces news charges alleging he sexually assaulted multiple children and manufactured images of teenagers being sexually abused.

Charles Beckley, 53, was indicted Thursday in Belknap County Superior Court in Laconia on five counts of felonious sexual assault, one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault, and two counts of manufacturing child sexual abuse images, according to Tilton police.

Beckley was previously employed as the transfer station manager in Canterbury, but his name has been removed from the town’s website.

Tilton police arrested Beckley this past spring on two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault after a local mother reported May 3 that her daughter had been sexually assaulted. Tilton police Chief Robert Cormier said previously that Beckley sexually assaulted the 13-year-old girl, whom he knew, on more than one occasion during a six- to 12-month time period.

Detectives executed a search warrant at Beckley’s home on Grange Road as part of their investigation.

In the months since Beckley’s arrest, police said additional child victims have come forward. Cormier said Friday the investigation remains active.

Beckley is being held at the Belknap County jail in Laconia for lack of cash bail.

An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.

Tilton police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the department at 286-4442.
