Letter: You harm women by voting for Trump

Are you happy with what Donald Trump teaches your daughters and sisters about their role in society? Presidents have always been expected to exemplify values for Americans. Do you recall being told how George Washington never told a lie? Do remember learning how Harry Truman took responsibility for his actions and said, “The buck stops here”?

Trump frequently publicly denigrates women. He has walked out on female reporters after they asked critical questions. Is the lesson that women are to be seen and not heard? That they can and should be ignored as they do their job? He has not named women to the Supreme Court or any of the prominent cabinet jobs. Is the lesson that they are not up to those jobs? He repeatedly has criticized prominent women as being fat, ugly, or dog-faced. Is the lesson that women he considers unattractive should get out of their professions? He has insulted women because they are menstruating or asked to breast feed their infant. Is the lesson that such women should get out of public sight? He has bragged about being able to grab women by their genitals. No one should think our young women are oblivious or unaffected by these humiliating comments.

Voters should consider the consequences of this behavior. If you have a daughter, a sister, a wife, or a mother, you harm them by voting for Trump.
