UNH men’s ice hockey opens season at home with 4-1 win

The University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team played at the Whittemore Center in front of fans for the first time in 580 days and didn’t leave them disappointed, opening the 2021-22 season with a 4-1 victory over Union.

Freshman forwards Robert Cronin (Plymouth, Mass.) and Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) each scored a goal in their collegiate debuts, while senior forwards Eric MacAdams (Salem, Mass.) and Filip Engaras (Stockholm, Sweden) also each found the back of the net on Friday night.

Union scored two minutes into the game, but Cronin scored midway through the first period and MacAdams scored the game-winner at 17:42 in the second.

UNH outshot the Dutchmen by a 41-11 margin.

Engaras also tallied an assist for two points, while senior forward Tyler Ward (Kamloops, BC.) also turned in a multi-point performance with two assists for two points.
