Choose Poinier, Crush

As a father, it’s important to me that my child receive high-quality early education in order to prepare him for grade school and set him up for future success. That’s why I paid to enroll my son in private full-day kindergarten, as the Concord School District offers only half-day programming.

Last spring, the school board had the opportunity to vote on providing full-day kindergarten so that all kids would have equal opportunity to a strong start in life. Most sitting members voted to not invest in our city’s children, and that is why the upcoming school board elections on Nov. 7 are critical to our kids’ futures.

School board candidates Liza Poinier (District B) and Chuck Crush (District C) both have committed to prioritizing full-day kindergarten.

A 2016 report from Nobel Prize-winning economist James Heckman shows the rate of return on investments in early-childhood development for many kids can be 13 percent per child per year due to improved outcomes in education, health, reduced crime and economic potential.

As a Concord business owner, I believe it is vital that we elect leaders who will do what’s best for both our families and our economy.

If you live in Concord District B (Wards 5, 6, 7) or District C (Wards 8, 9, 10), you have the chance to improve our schools by voting for Liza Poinier or Chuck Crush.

Please join me in voting for Liza and Chuck for Concord School Board on Nov. 7.
