Letter: Warmington committed to reproductive rights

A contentious topic of debate in every election this year is reproductive rights. Here’s why that matters.

Reproductive health consists of a wide variety of services including but not limited to abortions, STI testing, and birth control. All are essential health care and are more crucial than is often realized. I have endometriosis, which is a painful disease where tissue from the uterus grows outside of it. The typical treatment for this is birth control. Without birth control this condition develops, resulting in chronic pain and a need for surgery. Birth control is important because of its use preventing pregnancy, but also because of its many other uses. These uses for birth control are only some of the reasons why reproductive health services are essential health care and a basic human right.

Cinde Warmington supports funding Planned Parenthood, which offers so many different reproductive health services, including low-cost birth control. Cinde also knows that health care is a human right and will help to ensure that state judges share that belief.

I rely on my right to reproductive health care to prevent chronic pain. With federal debates on Roe v. Wade and the Affordable Care Act, I need elected officials to be committed to preserving that right. I’m voting for Cinde because she will uphold my fundamental right to reproductive health care.
