Letter: Shaheen stands with small businesses

Thank you to Sen. Jeanne Shaheen for her tireless effort advocating for our state’s small businesses and working families.

Sen. Shaheen proved forceful and effective in leading negotiations for the small business element of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. In a period particularly fraught with political partisanship, Sen. Shaheen proved her ability to put politics aside collaborating with Republican colleagues to pass a bill prioritizing small businesses and working families.

In just the first week of the Paycheck Protection Program, more than $1 billion of loans was approved for Granite State businesses in an effort to keep businesses afloat and workers employed during this trying and unprecedented period. But Sen. Shaheen’s work continues as she pushes the Treasury Department for expeditious delivery of the funding to ensure small businesses receive loans promptly and can continue paying employees.

Thanks again to Sen. Shaheen for her unrelenting support of our state’s small businesses and working families. She has proven over and over she is a leader we can rely on.
