Fun flies in for Aerospace Fair

The Aviation and Aerospace Career Fair hosted by the non-profit STEM education group, WinnAero, was a resounding success on April 13 at the Laconia Airport. This was WinnAero’s effort to inform local students about the numerous career job opportunities in NH-based aviation and aerospace companies.

“Our state enjoys many manufacturers who provide critical parts and components to the aerospace industry and major aircraft companies” said Winn Aero Education Director, Dan Caron. Caron arranged for 27 aviation-related companies and agencies to have information booths and exhibits at the fair.

Additionally, WinnAero secured aircraft visits such as a C-144 Transport from the US Coast Guard, a State Police Cessna, the National Guard’s Blackhawk helicopter, a Pilatus Executive Turboprop from PlaneSense, the Civil Air Patrol’s search aircraft, and multiple aircraft from Goulian Aviation for the students to enjoy and meet with the aircrews.

Next up for WinnAero is the annual “Wings, Water & Wheels” touch-a-plane, touch-a-truck Open House event for families also at the Laconia Airport on May 20 at 10 a.m. This event has become very popular with families as it gives little kids (and big kids!) a chance to see, touch and crawl around various trucks, planes, construction equipment, boats, helicopters, fire engines and law enforcement vehicles. A modest admission fee will be charged with all proceeds to benefit the non-profit educational mission of WinnAero.
