People will have a chance to learn about, and comment on, a plan to widen I-93 through Concord at a public meeting in Concord City Hall on Tuesday.
The Bow-Concord I-93 Widening Project would add a lane in each direction on I-93 from the interchange with I-89 in Bow northerly approximately 4 miles to the I-393 interchange in Concord. It would reconfigure Exits 12, 13, 14, and 15 on I-93, Exit 1 on I-89, and Exit 1 on I-393.
Permitting for the project is set to begin soon with bridge improvements starting after that. Four red-listed bridges exist within the project. Major construction is slated to start in 2026 and could last a decade.
The price tag for the project is around $250 million, although it is likely to change over time.
Aside from changes to roadways, many in Concord hope the project will make it easier to get to the Merrimack River from downtown, improve pedestrian access over the river, make it easier to extend Storrs Street north by shifting the rail line, and reduce backups on Manchester Street and Loudon Road near the highway.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m., at City Council Chambers in City Hall, 37 Green St.
Information about the project can be found on the project website at nh.gov/dot/projects/bowconcord/index.htm.
