A bicyclist on Sheep Davis Road was sent to the hospital Monday evening after he was struck by a vehicle, police said.

The driver and cyclist – whose names police didn’t release – were both southbound about 5:30 p.m. in the area of Makris Lobster & Steak House.

Police Lt. Tim O’Malley said neither the cyclist nor the driver crossed into the other person’s lane, according to witnesses, and therefore each was let off with a warning.

The cyclist was apparently on the very edge of the breakdown lane, while the driver was approaching the edge of her travel lane, and the vehicle’s side mirror struck the cyclist, O’Malley said.

“The side mirror was detached and hanging” after having been damaged in the accident, the lieutenant said.

The cyclist was brought to Concord Hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries,” O’Malley said.

“He may have been technically over the line, if his elbow was over the line, and she should have used more due care, but neither of them were summonsed,” O’Malley said.
