Chichester House fire sends one to the hospital

An early-morning fire in a Chichester home that sent one person to the hospital began by accident, authorities said.

Chichester Fire and Rescue and police were dispatched to the scene on Dover Road a little after 2:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a statement from Chichester fire Chief Alan Quimby. The fire was contained quickly and suppression crews cleared the scene about 4 a.m.

One occupant escaped the flames by jumping from the second floor, according to the fire department, and one person was transported to Concord Hospital. It was not clear whether the person who jumped was the person hospitalized.

The Chichester Fire Department and state Fire Marshal’s office investigated the cause of the fire.

Concord, Epsom, Loudon and Pittsfield provided mutual aid.

The Red Cross said it was assisting two adults displaced by the blaze.
