Sockstober is a sock drive at Inter-Lakes High School in Meredith to donate socks to neighbors who are in need of new socks, and to those that are suffering from homelessness or displaced due to domestic violence.

This drive is in place is because when most people donate items they tend to be jackets, pants, shirts, and food, but many forget how important socks are. Socks keep your feet clean and dry, they protect you from the cold, and many of our community members who suffer from homelessness don’t have pairs of socks to change into!

The feedback the school has received from the shelters is that socks fly off the shelves and they never have enough. Another comment that resonated was when new socks are given out and put on, the individual can’t stop smiling!

Inter-Lakes High School Interact Club asks you to join in attempts to collect and donate more than 20,000 pairs of socks this year! If your school, service club, or business decides to participate, please email ILHS Interact Club Adviser Laura Brusseau and ILHS Student and Sock Drive Coordinator Simon Bird at laura.brusseau@interlakes.org or Simon.Bird@interlakes.org.

To participate, you agree to set up bins around your school, business or community starting now until Nov. 1. After the drive ends, we ask that you email us how many socks you collected and where you donated the socks. You may also share pictures of participants and the socks that were collected.
