The public portion of the annual meeting kicks off for the Henniker School District on Tuesday when a public hearing will be held on the proposed budget for the 2023-24 school year.

The $9.56 million proposal is 1.7% higher than the current budget.

The budget hearing is the first of three public steps in the SB2 process for school district meeting. A deliberative session, at which voters can debate and modify the budget and warrant articles, will be held Feb. 6. Voting by ballot on the budget and warrant articles will take place on election day, March 14.

The budget hearing will be held in the cafeteria at Henniker Community School, 51 Western Ave. The regular board meeting will begin at 6:15 p.m. and then recess for the public hearing.
