Detours on state Route 127 in Hopkinton will begin Monday, Aug. 27, a week later than first announced.

Through traffic next to the Rowell Covered Bridge will be blocked for up as much as 10 weeks while the road, known as Maple Street, is dug up to replace an underground penstock. The penstock carries water from the Contoocook River to a nearby hydropower station owned by Green Mountain Power.

While only a short section of road will be shut, there is no simple detour for through traffic. Cars will be redirected on Interstate 89 and U.S. Route 202.
