Letter: Truth, justice and the American way

The phrase “truth, justice and the American way” is familiar to Superman fans. The Congressional Republican Party as currently constituted is at odds with this principle as well as the oath to tell the “truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God”. It is no surprise that so many have left the GOP. The party shows little resemblance to its former self. The inconvenient truth is that the “big lie” is obvious and can easily be seen by voters of every political stripe.

The vote you try to suppress may be your own, particularly for women who may be offended by the GOP’s shabby treatment of powerful female role models like Liz Cheney. As the old song goes, those who choose to “tug on Superman’s cape” may live to regret it. Liz Cheney is a real life action hero, fiercely loyal to the truth and the rule of law. She won’t stop her fight, even if it means running for higher office as the head of a third party. As her message continues to resonate with voters, she could be a formidable opponent to a Republican party in search of its soul.
