This year’s Dancing with the Lake Sunapee Stars raised more than $7,000 for arts scholarships in the Lake Sunapee region.

The event included a spectacular show, auction and reception that drew 200 people to the Kearsarge Regional High School Auditorium on May 11. The audience was delighted by the performances of local stars Rob Kier, the manager of Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, Main Street New London; Brian Callaghan alum of KRHS; Brain Kellogg, physics teacher at KRHS; and Amber Gest Palumbo, financial analyst from Wilmot. These local celebrities were partnered with professional dancers Kristi Upton, Emily Swindell, Renee Patten and Gary Stanhope, competing for this year’s People’s Choice Award.

That honor went to Amber Gest Palumbo and Gary Stanhope for their dance performance of the tango to Pink’s “Bad Influence.”

In addition to the performances of Cha Cha, Jazz, and a Paso Doble by the star couples, there were special performances by last year’s winner Lyndsay Lund and the KCPA Performance Dance Company, and professional dance couple Laura Kiefer and Gary Stanhope. And rounding out the evening were performances by KCPA Arts in Motion, Speaking in Taps, and the Bedford Dance Center Senior Ensemble.

The Center for the Arts wishes to thank the businesses, donors, and individuals who made this event such a success!

Scholarship announcements will be made on July 5 at the Mary Haddad Bandstand concert on the New London Town Green. The public is invited to attend.

Donations to the scholarship fund are appreciated and may be made online at centerfortheartsnh.org/student-scholarships.
