Since the election results were announced I have heard a lot of people questioning how so many voters could support Donald Trump. I don’t think that is the right question. The right question is why did voters fail to show up for Kamala Harris?
When all the votes are counted it appears Joe Biden will have gotten approximately 12 million more votes in 2020 than Kamala Harris got this year. Some might argue this voter discrepancy is proof of voter fraud in 2020. I have another theory.
I think voters showed up in 2020 because they believed in Joe Biden. Voters stayed home in 2024 because he failed them. I am willing to bet if you asked these “no show” voters if they are better off now than four years ago the answer would be a resounding no!
If you haven’t tried to find a job in the past two years you probably think the job market is pretty good. The media reports positive job reports each month. The problem is if you scratch the surface, you will see that jobs are being added in low-paying sectors like food service and hospitality.
Meanwhile, high-paying sectors are losing jobs. The tech sector has lost the second most jobs in its history under President Biden. According to salary.com, the average tech sector salary is $94,000 a year. The average food service worker salary is $34,000 a year.
Even if you haven’t lost your job, I would be willing to bet you haven’t gotten a 20% raise since 2020. The massive inflation under the Biden administration has squeezed families as everything is more expensive. Americans like our government don’t like to cut spending, so we have been accumulating record debt.
According to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York U.S. household debt has reached an all-time high of $17.8 trillion. Do you still wonder why millions of Americans didn’t feel “joy” about four more years of this?

After jobs and inflation, there is the Biden administration’s gross incompetence. The withdrawal from Afghanistan and the first Trump assassination attempt are good examples. The crown jewel of the Biden administration’s incompetence has to be the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) revamp. First, they hired a defense contractor to rewrite complex code. Second, they “forgot” to account for inflation. Finally, they failed to communicate with families and colleges.
The University of New Hampshire just announced a concerning drop in first-generation students to the lowest level in a decade. I’m sure the financial aid disaster had nothing to do with that. The neat part is President Biden never fired the secretary of education. Who needs accountability anyway?
When strategists dissect this election the conclusion they should reach is these results are due to millions of Americans being worse off under the Biden administration. When voters stayed home on Nov. 5, they sent a clear message the Biden administration had not earned their vote.
