Pound-for-Pound: Bow girls’ tennis team takes over top spot

TEAM (last week’s rank)

1. BOW GIRLS’ TENNIS (2) improved to 13-0 after Thursday’s 5-4 win against defending Division II champ Portsmouth (11-1).

2. HOPKINTON GIRLS’ LAX (3)  is 10-0, scoring 16.4 goals per game, allowing 5.1 goals per game and all alone in first-place in Division III.

3. PITTSFIELD BASEBALL (6)  has sole possession of first in D-IV at 11-0 and will travel to rival Newmarket (8-0) on Tuesday. 

4. JOHN STARK BASEBALL (7)  will put its 10-0 mark on the line with three games in the next four days, starting Monday vs. ConVal (8-2).

5. HOPKINTON BOYS’ LAX (1)  fell to 8-1 and saw its 42-game winning streak snapped with Friday’s 9-5 loss to Pelham (8-0).

6. BOW BASEBALL (5)  lost its first game of the season last Monday but bounced back with two wins to run its record to 8-1.

7. HOPKINTON BASEBALL (RV)  improved to 10-1 with three wins last week, including one-run wins against Gilford and Campbell.

8. CONCORD BASEBALL (RV) is 12-2 and tied for first in D-I with Bishop Guertin, the team it will face Monday night at Holman Stadium. 

9. BELMONT SOFTBALL (4)  lost its first game of the season, and only game last week, to Bishop Brady, 5-3, to drop to 9-1.

10. HOPKINTON SOFTBALL (8)  lost its first game of the season on Thursday, 14-8 to Campbell, and plays four games in the next four days.
