Kris Kristofferson and The Strangers

What: Kristofferson achieved notable success as a country songwriter in the early 1970s. His chart-topping hits helped redefine country songwriting, which led to a career in acting.

When: Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Capitol Center for the Arts, 44 S. Main St., Concord

Cost: $35 to $65


Carl Beverly

What: Warner singer-guitarist-songwriter Carl Beverly will receive top billing for the evening. He will be joined onstage by his wife, Carolyn. Beverly has been writing and perfecting his distinctive and unique finger-picking style for 10 years. There will also be an opportunity for open mic performers.

When: Friday at 7 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m.

Where: Highland Lake Grange Hall, Route 11 and Chase Hill Road, Andover

Cost: Free, donations accepted

Matt Osgood

What: Matt Osgood did everything right. He graduated college and armed himself against the professional world with a journalism degree. With the journalism world folding in front of him, he took a job teaching English. He followed the typical narrative: Get up, go to work each day, earn a paycheck, go to bed. It was the same thing every single day. In search of professional and personal fulfillment, he took a risk to join the writing world again. He’ll discuss his book, “Write Now! The Guide to Making It in Freelance Writing.”

When: Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Where: Gibson’s Bookstore, 45 S. Main St., Concord
