Letter: The red, white and blue

The red, white and blue of our national flag were celebrated in the recent Olympics along with chants of USA. National pride is stirred deeply by competitive sports. We go for the gold but silver and bronze are prized as well. The joy of receiving any level of recognition is icing on the cake. Just the honor of competing is reward enough for any Olympian.

The same is true for every American. Our privilege of living in this great country is an honor. Becoming a leader in such a land through honest competition is an even greater honor. It can only be won through hard work and above all honesty.

This should be the gold standard in politics. Which candidate is best suited for the job, based on past performance and moral integrity.

Every American should have the right to vote and see it as a great privilege. Only the most qualified and dignified should be worthy of your vote. Search your mind, heart and soul for the best person who will work for you, not themselves. Pick the person who will always have your back and will never lie to you. And finally, pick the person who will protect your rights and freedoms under the Constitution of the United States of America.
