High schools: NH Coaches Series Nordic results, Thursday’s basketball games

NH Coaches Series Race #1

Key players: Hopkinton – Elizabeth Trafton (13th, 11:12), Florence Dapice (25th, 12:18), Isabel Afflerbach (35th), Lia Chapin (39th), Amelia Walsh (47th); Kearsarge – Ava Valle (28th), Katherine Blagden (51st), Ainsley Frenkiewich (77th); Concord – Frances Lesser (33rd), Mahalie Burdette (49th), Chloe Gudas (53rd), Phoebe Dater-Roberts (54th); Bow – Ashe McKeen (107th), Molly McCarthy (123rd), Vera Virta (127th), Makaylie Laws (128th); Bishop Brady – Avery Sahr (138th) 

Highlights:  Skiers from all NHIAA divisions, private schools and clubs across the state competed in the freestyle race at Holderness on Saturday. The team scores (not available at press time) from Saturday’s freestyle race will be combined with the team scores from the classic race that will be held at Plymouth on Feb. 10 to determine a true state champion. Ford Sayre Club’s Lea Perreard led 160 skiers across the line, finishing the 3.75K freestyle race in 9:40. Lebanon’s Annelies Hanna was second in 9:46.

Highlights:  Skiers from all NHIAA divisions, private schools and clubs across the state competed in the freestyle race at Holderness on Saturday. The team scores (not available at press time) from Saturday’s freestyle race will be combined with the team scores from the classic race that will be held at Plymouth on Feb. 10. Watt won the 3.75K freestyle race in 8:13.5, leading a field of 154 skiers. Oliver Wilson of the Dublin School finished next in 8:16.9.

Boys’ Basketball

Hinsdale 49, Franklin 32

Key players: Franklin – Lily Cornell (12 points), Sage Slocum (10 points), Savaughna Slocum (8 points)

Highlights:  The game was tied 20-20 at halftime, but the Tornadoes felt the absence of leading scorer Kourtney Kaplan in the second half. Franklin’s passing and shooting was off in the second half as the Pacers ended the Tornadoes’ win streak at five games.

Records: Hinsdale 6-5; Franklin 9-5
