NEC celebrates World Peace Day

New England College’s Event Management class (and Professor Susan M. Murray) would like to thank everyone that helped make our Celebration of World Peace Day at the Concord Family YMCA a success. This event was held to give 40 refugee children (associated with Ascentria Care Alliance) memories that would last a lifetime. On Nov. 17, we were able to have a healthy dinner, and fun through various activities, including rock climbing, soccer, swimming, art and crafts and more! The celebration was made possible by generous donations and contributors.

First, thank you to Constantly Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, and Sal’s Pizza for providing the main course for dinner. Also, thank you to Hannaford’s, Market Basket, Shaw’s, and Target for donating in the form of gift cards that provided fresh fruits and vegetables for our participants, volunteers, and class. And thank you to Chartwell’s Dining Services at New England College for donating additional food for the event. Without these donations we would not have been able to start the night with a dinner for all.

We also would like to thank the very supportive New England College staff members who contributed to our event from beginning to end. Furthermore, thank you to the student volunteers from New England College, who helped ensure the children had a fun-filled night.

Additionally, thank you to Ascentria Care Alliance of Concord for bringing a superb group of children to the Celebration of World Peace Day. We are very grateful to have been able to spend the evening with them.

Finally, thank you to CEO Jim Doremus and the staff of the Concord Family YMCA for providing a perfect facility for our Celebration. Due to the various recreation facilities within the YMCA, the children were able to enjoy a night of fun. The World Peace Day celebration was a memorable experience for everyone!
