The American Legionโs Crosby-Gilbert Post 101 will celebrate Flag Day on Wednesday by holding a public Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable Flags Ceremony at 7 p.m. behind the Andover Fire Station on Main Street. The public is invited to bring any unserviceable flags, with all hardware removed, to be turned over to a Legionnaire for burning, following the time-honored practice for the proper disposal of flags that can no longer be used.

The school is introducing a program called My School Color Run. The My School Color Run programs aims to go beyond traditional fund raising. On July 22, Pittsfield will celebrate Old Home Day โPittsfield Goes to the Circus!โ The community fair will be in Dustin Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Old Home Day Committee is looking for crafters and community organizations to join the fair. On Monday, PYW will be holding an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. for new youth and parents to check out the drop-in center, and for everyone to sign up for summer trips and/or activities. The Pittsfield Historical Society presents โThe Shakersโ in New Hampshire on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the society museum, 13 Elm St. Join us as we explore the ties that link us to the Shaker Community and to the Shaker Museum that is in our backyard. Please bring your experiences, stories, photographs and memorabilia of the โShakersโ to share with the group. The program will be moderated by Sabra Welch, who will give an overview of the Shaker community of East Canterbury and share her experiences in helping to preserve the legacy of the โShakers in New Hampshire.โ

Congratulations to the 2017 graduating class of Pittsfield Middle High School! End of year celebrations for PMHS include: senior baccalaureate on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church; senior awards night on Friday at 7 p.m. in the PMHS gym; and commencement ceremony on June 17 at 10 a.m. in the PMHS gym.

The South Pittsfield Community Club will host a Ham and Bean Supper on Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse, 444 Dowboro Road. The cost for the supper is $8 for adults, $4 for children age 6 to 12, and children under 6 are free.
The Drake Field Summer Recreation Program is free to Pittsfield children in first- through eighth-grade. High school students are welcome to join in and help for community service credit. We are located at Drakeโs Field and open Monday through Thursday beginning June 26 and ending Aug. 3. The only cost is for admission to some field trips, many are free. Breakfast and lunches will be provided free of charge. Good behavior is mandatory. Sign-up sheets will be sent home with school children soon.
