Just because you’re older than 50 doesn’t mean you’re exempt from back- to-school excitement. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Granite State College, known for high-quality, affordable classes for adults over age 50, begins registration for the fall term on Monday at 9 a.m.
Featured at the Concord campus this term are courses ranging in topics from soap-making to Shakespeare, Tanzania to ukulele, Buddhism to John Winant. Classes are open to non-members, but membership benefits include a significant discount of $20 per course.
OLLI offers 190 classes, 60 of which are in the Concord area. Courses are non-academic, non-credit and generally meet once a week for one to six weeks at the Granite State campus. Some classes are field trips to fascinating local destinations such as Contoocook Alpaca Farm, Kimball Pond and Beech Hill Farm.
The full array of courses available in Concord and at OLLI’s other three learning sites – Manchester, Conway and the Seacoast – is found online at olli.granite.edu. You may also pick up a print catalog at your local library, town hall or by calling the OLLI office at Granite State College at 513-1377. Register online on or after Monday.
So grab your new shoes and newly-sharpened pencil and join your contemporaries on the first day of school. For OLLI, classes begin Sept. 11 with new classes starting every week through December.
